Fundraising for Gateways to Beyond Anthology

unnamed
Gurukitty Studios is currently working on our 3rd anthology,Gateways to Beyond, and we have  launched a crowd funding campaign to help raise the funds needed to publish this book.
The campaign has many perks and donation levels where you can get digital and physical copies of our new and previous anthologies, including pre-orders ofGateways to Beyond. If you are unable to financially support the campaign, thats okay, helping us spread the word is extremely helpful, as well.
If you could spread the word on your social media sites such as twitter and facebook it will greatly increase our chances of successfully funding our campaign.
Gateways to Beyond will have 23 black and white sci-fi comics from artists all over the world.
The wrap around cover art was done by one of the contributors, Jason Hart.
Sample comic pages from the anthology will be posted periodically on tindiegogo campaign. We will also be posting concept work and sketches.
Thank you for supporting Gurukitty Studios.

Raising Funds

Hello Friends,
Normally Only marker related posts go here (and I'll have a new thing to share soon!) but today I wanted to reach our to you all, and ask you to help us out. I'm a comic book creator as most of you know, and being independent (I dont work for a big company, I self publish) not paid wages beyond my own profits earned from hard work, and selling our comics. We've created an Anthology project where many artists have submitted their work to be included, and for their contribution they get a copy of the book. These initial books we give away for free to the artists, cost us nearly 1000$ to print and mail. To help us with that cost, we need contributions. Please check our our campaign. Thank you So much! Please share it around and spread the word! We artists have to stick together and help eachother out, right? :)

Copic Original for comics

Hello,
I have been doing a few black and white comics lately, and something I've come to value in this adventure is my Copic Multiliner SP's! Oh yes! The Multiliners are a godsend. I've sort of tallied up what it would have cost me to buy disposable pens VS Copic multiliner SP's (refillable) and I've saved over 100$ on these 2 wee comics alone!

Something else! I have a couple Copic Original in black that I got in my Comic Inking Pro set a while back, and recently I swapped out my Fine nib on it for the Super fine and it's AMAZING!
This is what it looks like:
"One Day to Live" Comic, in progress!
Isn't that a keen nib? I've been adding some line weight and stuff to my inked pages with it! It's awesome because it doesn't get fuzzy like the Fine nibs do, and it is regular copic marker ink. It's like one step up from the .07 size Multiliner which I often crave.

Anyway, Just thought I'd share that with you :D

http://experimentalguru.blogspot.com/2011/05/setting-up-comic-pages-for-printing.html
I made a tutorial on making print ready comic pages today from my latest comic page.
Heres the latest page: Page 12.

I am really burning through the copics on this comic! I'm refilling at least one each page, lol!

North Shore Arts Crawl

For those of you in the Vancouver area, I'm going to have some of my art work exhibited in the North Shore Arts Crawl. Come Check us out! Opus forked over the cash for me to be able to participate in this, as well as the other staff there, so it would be great if the turn out was good! There are a few of us who use markers at our store :)

In other news, my Comics been posting online. Chapter 1 is what's going to be viewable online, so check it out! It's all coloured in Copic Markers! It displays the most recent page first so just click on the #1 below to go to the first page!
Sorry I'm not blogging as much any more, but I'm planning a class for after I've gotten back into my routine. We've had so many things coming up lately that are unpleasant (such as cancers) and also my mum had surgery so I spent some time at my mums helping her recover so ... ya.
I'm planning more copic classes and we have a fair amount of Convention activity up coming. (see below) So a good time to voice your opinions on what you'd like in an upcoming class.

we are having a Daqueran Clearance Sale. Some of you remember that Vancouver was all set to have a big Convention called Fan Fair Fest that cancelled a week before it was set to start! We have an excessive amount of stock as a result of preparing for that convention so now we're looking to clear out this stock. We are selling the first 4 issues of Daqueran at COST.

This sale only lasts as long as we have stock, and the sale was a big hit at Vancouver Comiccon so get it while it lasts!
Speaking of Comicon, Last weekend Kitty sat in at Vancouver Comiccon and had a pretty successful day! We had some customers come back and tell us they loved the Tik charm they bought, and get lots of compliments on them, we sold out of Tiks in a bottle! The best part was all the compliments we got! It's really a boost to get some positive feedback! We're starting to be recognizable, and we're really excited about that!

So we have lots of conventions coming up too!
