Video: Airbrushing background

Hello! I posted a bit of a video. It's a speed paint of a recent quick drawing I did. It's at 600% normal speed. I use mainly airbrush and some quick stencilling for the background and some frisket film in there also. Its fun. The art I don't love, but the techniques are sound, I'm convinced of that! LOL.

And if you feel like it, you can also see the final art work here, though I promise you, it looks better from far away, LOL.
Nakia is from my comic, Conflagration
THANK YOU BLOGGER AUTO SAVE!

Trev Murphy - Copic artist

I found this person quite some time ago, and every so often I just take some time and watch his videos on colouring with Copics.
I have no desire really to create photo realistic images like his; it's not my style at all and I'm cool with that. What these videos do is inspire me!  He layers his markers so deep and uses great colours to achieve his look. You should check these out!

Don't be discouraged by things like this! be inspired!

Updates: Live stream

Hello all!
The class is going well (I think!?) and I'm pleased with the progress all the students are making. I do plan on doing more classes in the future, some smaller ones and some bigger ones. I have many ideas. I hope the students are enjoying the class :)

Anyway, 2 weeks in a row I managed to get some time together to go on livestream and record some live colouring! If you're interested in watching me colour live, there is also a chat on livestream so as I'm colouring you can interact with me and ask me questions! It's a great way to learn! Almost all of my live streams are Copic marker related, but there are a few animation ones sprinkled in there as well.
here is a little widget of my library:

guruubii on livestream.com. Broadcast Live Free

I generally post on my Art blog when I've completed a livestream showing the original sketch, the video and the final work. If you're interested you should follow that blog too!
Here are my 2 latest posts:
Colouring Edlyn
Colouring Pehny and Stacy
You can watch all my previous liveStream broadcasts any time, so if you miss one, you can always watch it later. It's a wonderful system and I enjoy it a great deal!
If you ever want to know when I'm going live, the best way is to watch my twitter! I always tweet when I'm going to be going live. I generally do it on Mondays, but I've taken some time off work at the end of this month so I might get some other days in as well, if I can draw enough to colour, HAHA!

How is everyone?
Any requests, suggestions, ideas? fire away!

Online copic Classes

It's Confirmed!
In early 2011 I will be starting Online Copic marker classes on the CDAC. I will strive to make them universally applicable to all purposes not just illustration or crafting. They will be entertaining, stimulating and informative, and I think they're a pretty unique angle for markers.
For the most part classes will be affordable, 1 month long, have at least 1 assignment, free digital images, and a give away at the end of the class. you will receive a completion badge for your blog or website as well.

if you think you'll be interested in the classes please feel free to fill out this short form to be informed when enrolment begins.
You will not be emailed for anything but Copic classes hosted by myself.

Please help me by spreading the word to your friends for me, I'd really appreciate it!
I'll be cross posting this to all my blogs, so I apologize if anyone watches more than one blog, you'll be bombarded.

live stream today

Here is the result of my livestream.
there were a couple technical difficulties that forced me to stop the recording twice, so there are 2 short videos (2 and 6 minutes) before getting into the final video which is almost 3 hours.

Here they are:

Part 1

Part 2

Watch live streaming video from guruubii at livestream.com

Part 3

And here is the completed image. It is nowhere near what I had hoped for, but I like it nonetheless.
I got to use lots of my tools, including my airbrush.

this is for a contest. The OC-Challenge group has a theme of thunderstorms right now, so I thought I'd give it a shot :)

More videos on blending - hair

Blending Hair

I had another 3 alllll uploaded but it turns out they were the wrong files. BOOO! so I have to re upload them all. :/

Again, here's the scan of the drawing, just so you can see it as its supposed to be seen.

Feather Blending

I got my webcam hooked up so I could record some video. The batteries died on my camera to day after an hour setting it up. How fun. I promised to do these videos today, and I like to deliver.

I'll post the rest as they upload :)

Here's the image I coloured in the tutorial so you can see the result more clearly.
I coloured a bit on her shirt as well, and her skin was coloured from before.

More Video Tutorials

I decided to try and get all the "easy" tutorials out of the way before blasting into technique based tutorials. By easy I mean, I don't have to plan anything or have real art work ready. Just my Markers!
SO I've done 2 more since the last one and here they are:

More in the works!
according to my recent poll many people want to see a tutorial on Colour Blending, so that will likely be my first real technique tutorial. In the mean time, enjoy these starter ones, and feel free to suggest some tutorials for me to do!
